Photoshop - Now & Then
As part of the Photoshop component of the media course we took a little field trip around Katherine on Thursday evening, photographying the current day versions of some old photos we found on the NTPictures website. This was quite challenging in its self, due to lighting issues and potential storm activity. Then when we got back to CDU we used Photoshop to "blend" the old and new images. Very cool.

Of all the Audacity!
One of the interesting programs we have been using is "Audacity". This is open source software for audio editing. You can record voice or music, and edit as you like. It is packed with features that enable you to shorten or lengthen tracks, blend tracks together, or add features such as "Fade Out".
Definately worth a look if you are interested in audio editing.

New Faces in Katherine!
This week has seen the commencement of a Media course run by CDU Katherine Campus. The lecturer, Jack Tinapple (from the legendary Darwin band "The Neo") has been sharing his extensive knowledge with a devoted class of students (from all walks of Katherine life, and all levels of experience and exposure to media). Jack's brother Will Tinapple is the Top End Producer for ABC Open, a great new initiative by the ABC to encourage people to share video and audio relating to people, places and events in their local area. Will has also been in attendance at the course (which has a very workshop feel and structure). Will has helped us understand what ABC Open is all about, and what opportunities it offers. Welcome Jack and Will.
